Alaska official signs on as VP of fisheries and sustainability at American Seafoods

A senior official with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game has been hired by Seattle, Washington, U.S.A.-based American Seafoods.

ADF&G Federal Fisheries Coordinator Trevor Hartill has been named American’s vice president of fisheries and sustainability, according to the Cordova Times.

Hartill worked for the ADF&G for a decade, primarily in its extended jurisdiction section, according to the Times. He also served as an official alternate representing the department at North Pacific Fishery Management Council meetings.

A biologist by training, Hartill previously held positions at ADF&G managing the groundfish and shellfish fisheries in Kodiak and in Dutch Harbor, and the herring and salmon fisheries on the Alaska Peninsula, the Times reported.

Hartill’s new role will include following state and federal legislative and regulatory developments, according to the Cordova Times. A similar role at American was previously held by Ron Rogness, who served as vice president of sustainability and corporate relations until he retired in July 2018.
