Diego Illingworth has announced his departure from Saudi Arabia’s National Aquaculture Group (NAQUA) for the role of CEO at Guayaquil, Ecuador-based aquaculture firm Sociedad Nacional de Galapagos (SONGA).

Before being named NAQUA CEO in 2021, Illingworth held leadership roles at Ecuadorian seafood brand Promarisco and U.K.-based packaged goods firm Unilever.

In a series of posts about the transition, Illingworth said that “after more than three amazing years as the CEO of NAQUA, it's time for me to say goodbye."

"My journey here has been filled with unforgettable moments, growth, and achievements that I’ll always treasure," he said.

Illingworth thanked NAQUA’s “partners, clients, and stakeholders,” saying “together, we’ve hit incredible milestones and set new standards in the industry.”

He said that he was “confident that NAQUA will continue to thrive under the leadership of my successor, Fawaz Aljasser.”

Aljassar formerly served as executive vice president of the Bakery Division and chief human resources officer at Almarai, a Saudi fresh produce and dairy company. Prior to that he was general manager at Teeba, a subsidiary of International Dairy and Juice Limited (IDJ), which itself is a joint venture of PepsiCo and Almarai.
