Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A.-headquartered aquaculture technology company Innovasea named acting CEO Mark Jollymore permanent CEO, effective immediately.

Innovasea Board Chair Don Grant, who is also a Managing Partner at Cuna del Mar, said that Jollymore’s leadership "has already helped lead Innovasea through an important chapter. Now we look forward to scaling impact and unlocking the next phase of growth.”

In a release about the news, Jollymore said he was “honored to lead Innovasea at a time when new technologies and solutions are required to support regenerative aquaculture and wild fish stock resource management.”

“Innovasea is uniquely positioned to provide breakthrough capabilities that help ensure aquaculture can be a contributor to ocean health, biodiversity, and food security globally," he said. “My focus will be to build on our world-class innovation capabilities and customer-first approach to support the critical advancements of our aquaculture and fish-research customers."

Jollymore has been with the company since 2017, when he became Innovasea’s President after the company acquired Amirix Systems, where Jollymore formerly served as President and CEO. There, he specialized in the company’s acoustic fish tracking system, Vemco.

At Innovasea Jollymore has continued to focus on tech-enabled fish tracking solutions, including NexTrak, an acoustic telemetry system, and the aquaMeasure environmental sensor, a key tool in Innovasea’s technology platform.

Jollymore studied electrical engineering at the University of New Brunswick, and holds an MBA from Saint Mary’s University. He holds ICD.D membership in the Institute of Corporate Directors and serves on several boards in the maritime and workforce development industries.

In 2024, Jollymore became the Chair of the Board at Canadian marine technology hub COVE, which hosts spaces–a marine terminal, machine shops, co-working spaces, and in-water labs, for businesses to test and build new aquaculture and maritime technology solutions.

Innovasea has worked with numerous large companies, including Mowi and Grieg, on marine technology solutions that support aquaculture operations.

Most recently, the company partnered with the Andrew J. Young foundation to support the development of recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) facility in the U.S.
