– Proximar Seafood has named former Mowi executive Michinori Hoshijima its chief commercial officer. Hoshijima, a twenty plus year veteran of the industry, most recently served as the sales and marketing director at Mowi Japan.

“Mr. Hoshijima is one of the most experienced persons in the Atlantic salmon market in Japan,” Proximar CEO Joachim Nielsen said. “He will bring in-depth knowledge from sales and marketing, further strengthening the focus in this important area as weare now ramping up our harvesting in 2025.”

Proximar is a Norway-headquartered company which farms Atlantic salmon in Japan, where it can grow fish in close proximity to Japanese markets, where demand for salmon is high. It recently harvested and sold what it said was the first domestically produced Atlantic salmon in Japan.  It sells salmon under the banner of its Fuji Atlantic Salmon brand.

– The Conservation Alliance for Seafood Solutions has appointed two seafood industry veterans to its board.

Renee Perry, Vice President of corporate social responsibility and environmental social governance at seafood sourcer Culimer USA, and Wakao Hanaoka, founder and CEO of seafood market consultancy Seafood Legacy, have both been named to the Alliance’s board.

“The Alliance Board plays a critical role in setting the organisation’s strategic direction. With Wakao and Renee joining the ranks, we have two incredibly well-connected and hard-working changemakers who share our value around the power of collaboration," Conservation Alliance for Seafood Solutions Director Meaghan Hudgins said in a press release. "The team and I are pleased to have the opportunity to work so closely with them both to leverage the power of the Alliance to lead the seafood industry forward on environmental and social responsibility.”

Hanaoka and Perry bring experience from the Japanese and American seafood sectors, respectively, both having worked in their countries to improve transparency and sustainability in the industry. Hanaoka is known for working towards improved environmental and social responsibility in Japanese and Asian seafood markets, while Perr’s work has focused on traceability and anti-IUU efforts.
