Rehovot, Israel-based Oshi, which produces plant-based alternatives to salmon and whitefish, recently announced a USD 3 million (EUR 2.5 million) investment from a Latin American seafood manufacturer.
The company was previously known as Plantish before changing names in 2023.
Oshi CEO Olek Ron said he feared the company “was close to the end of its runway” not long ago in a post on LinkedIn, and said he was worried the company may not survive before the investment. Now with this investment, Ron said the company decided to reserve USD 1 million (EUR 861,000) for the community “to invite our customers, supporters, and advocates to invest.” The company is still actively seeking investments.
Ron said he started Oshi five years ago at just 29 years old with a passion for vegan activism and the desire to mitigate the risk of overfishing by using plants to create seafood alternative products.
"I made the wrong decisions, I watched companies in our space rise like rockets, and then watched others crash just as fast,” Ron wrote on LinkedIn. “We pivoted again and again. We launched a product, then had to admit it wasn’t good enough.”
Ron said the company saw its revenue quadruple in 2025, and is on track for the same outcome in 2026. Oshi products also received purchase orders from retailers such as Lassen’s, Mother’s Market, Country & Market, and Earth Fare, and are in talks with a large U.S. grocery chain. Ron said he expects the company to grow to two additional countries in 2026.
“The company that, only a few months ago, I was afraid might close, is now entering the strongest momentum we have ever had,” Ron said on LinkedIn. “This journey has been much harder than I imagined, but it has also made me believe more than ever that Oshi needs to exist.
According to Oshi’s investment funding page on wefunder.com, the company has currently generated USD 3.2 million (EUR 2.7 million) of its USD 4 million (EUR 3.4 million) funding goal.
According to Food Navigator USA, the company also has additional backing from Unovis Asset Managee and Alumni Ventures and individual investors such as Oatly, Impossible Foods, and Beyond Meat. The release said the investment will go towards developing the plant-based whitefish line.
Recent company successes include piloting with over 100 restaurants, including Next Level Burger, Veggie Grill, and City Roots Hospitality.
Oshi also has over 1,000 direct to consumer customers. Overall, the company has raised over USD 10 million (EUR 8.6 million) and was named Vegprenuer’s Best Product of 2026.
The company currently produces and sells plant-based alternatives to salmon fillets, white fish fillets, and surf and turf products.
