– John Williams retired from his role as executive director of the Southern Shrimp Alliance (SSA) after two decades, though he will continue to serve in an advisory role through June 2026 to oversee incoming Executive Director Blake Price.

“John’s work supported the livelihoods of every single U.S. shrimper,” Price said. “It is with great honor that I now get to help this iconic American industry continue SSA’s mission. The goal isn’t to simply see U.S. shrimpers survive, but to see this essential industry thrive.”

Price has served as the alliance's deputy director since August 2025. Prior to that, Price worked at NOAA as a fish biologist working in commercial gear development for nearly 15 years in North Carolina, according to his LinkedIn. He’ll continue his work with SSA in Swansboro, North Carolina, U.S.A.

Williams started his career as a shrimper in Tarpon Springs, Florida, U.S.A., where he helped found the SSA, according to a release from the organization. As cofounder, he helped petition the U.S. government for antidumping duties as a volunteer before taking on the executive director role.

“The U.S. shrimp industry owes a tremendous debt of gratitude to John for his work and leadership, which has saved this industry from complete collapse many times,” SSA President Steve Bosarge said. “He leaves us in very capable hands at the end of a year that skyrocketed the U.S. shrimp industry’s visibility and influence.”

– Bellingham, Washington, U.S.A.-based surimi seafood market producer Trans-Ocean Products has announced Chris Cameron as president, a position he's held since 1 January 2026. He replaced Murray Park, who’s been CEO and president of Trans-Ocean Products since 2014.

As president, Cameron will lead Trans-Ocean Products’ operations, including its 50,000 square-foot surimi seafood processing facility in Washington, the company said in a release. Cameron has worked at Trans-Ocean Products for the past 5 and a half years, starting as supply chain manager, then advancing to vice president of operations. He started his career at Hearthside Food Solutions in Eugene, Oregon, U.S.A., where he stayed for seven years, and then worked at Oregon-based Attune Foods for seven years.

"Chris's exceptional operational expertise, strategic insight, and vision for the future made him the clear choice to lead Trans-Ocean into its next phase of growth," Park said. "He is widely respected for using innovation to enhance processing efficiencies and develop products that meet changing customer needs."

Trans-Ocean Products, founded in 1985, sells surimi seafood brands such as Crab Classic and Seafood Snackers. The company said it’s the only processing facility that’s 100 percent gluten-free plant certified in the domestic surimi seafood industry.

As vice president, Cameron “played a key role in streamlining manufacturing processes and spearheading a major facility expansion,” which will complete construction this year, the company said.

"I'm honored to step into the role of president and build on the strong foundation that has made Trans-Ocean a leader in the surimi seafood category," Cameron said. "I look forward to working with our talented team to continue improving our operations, expanding our capabilities, and delivering high-quality, innovative products for our customers."
