– Iceland-based recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) salmon-farming firm Thor Landeldi has named Steinthor Palsson CEO.

The RAS project, which is still under construction in Thorlakshofn, Iceland, will ultimately produce 20,000 metric tons of salmon a year, the company said on its website.

Icelandic ocean-focused investment fund IS Haf became a majority owner of the project in 2023, with then-Managing Director Kristrún Auður Viðarsdóttir telling SeafoodSource that “the fast-developing salmon farming sector in Iceland requires a strong investor participation alongside industry experts.”

“There is a great need to strengthen the infrastructure of salmon farming to keep up with its foreseeable growth, and the smolt production is a basic prerequisite for the successful growth of salmon farming both on sea and land,” Viðarsdóttir said.

Though he worked most recently as a self-employed consultant, Palsson has previously served as a partner at Icelandic consulting firm KPMG and as the CEO of Reykjavík, Iceland-band Landsbankinn, formerly the National Bank of Iceland.

– Christian L'Heureux has left family-owned Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A.-based seafood wholesaler North Coast Seafoods after seven years with the company.

L'Heureux, who started at the company as a digital marketing specialist, rose to become its marketing manager.

In a LinkedIn post, he reflected on his time at the firm, where he said his work “began with launching our inaugural social media channels and website [and] quickly grew into a broader, more strategic role.”

Over time, he said, his role grew to include a number of key projects, including North Coast’s direct-to-consumer program and building the company’s seaweed brand, which ultimately launched with Sysco.

L'Heureux said that the decision to leave the firm was spurred by his family’s relocation to Charlotte, North Carolina, U.S.A.

– Software supplier NetYield has named Kimberly Moore as a new sales executive.

Moore is a 20-year veteran of the seafood industry with 10 years of experience in software and accounting.

NetYield CEO and Owner Mike Bennie said that Moore’s “extensive experience and proven track record make her an exceptional resource for our customers."

"She not only understands the seafood industry inside and out, but she also knows how to connect technology with business needs – exactly what NetYield is all about," he said.

At NetYield, Moore will be tasked with helping seafood businesses modernize their operations, improving efficiency and profitability through software support.
