Danish seafood trader Seafood Sales is planning to close its Frederikshavn office at the end of August and consolidate all of its business at its office in Aalborg, Denmark.

The company, founded in 2003, specializes in the international trade of frozen seafood products for the food processing industry, with most of its sales focused in Europe and Southeast Asia. The company said it has been at the Frederikshavn location for 23 years, and the closure of the office marks a “natural step” for the company’s growth.

“We have had a very strong base in Frederikshavn for many years, and it has been an important foundation for our growth,” Seafood Sales Founder and CEO Marten Klæstrup said in a release. “We are now bringing the organization together in Aalborg to strengthen collaboration, improve efficiency and support our future development.”

Seafood Sales said the majority of its employees are now based in and around Aalborg, making the existence of two locations less efficient.

“For a period, Seafood Sales has operated from both Frederikshavn and Aalborg, with employees working on fixed days in the two cities. However, this model has not proven to be optimal,” the company said. “By bringing employees together in Aalborg, Seafood Sales expects not only to strengthen job satisfaction but also to promote knowledge sharing and create an even stronger professional environment. Aalborg also provides access to a broader local talent pool and a strong cluster of competencies that support the company’s continued development.”

The move is also part of a transition for the company away from Klæstrup to Sales Director Anders Nielsen. Seafood Sales said Nielsen will gradually become the majority shareholder and leader of the company, a process which has been ongoing.

“We look forward to bringing the entire team together under one roof in Aalborg,” Klæstrup said.
