FDA Delays EU Export Certificate Transfer

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today announced it postponed the date on which it will stop issuing export certificates for seafood products bound for the European Union and the European Free Trade Association.

The change will now take place on June 17, rather than Feb. 22.

The FDA will transfer the issuance of certificates to the Seafood Inspection Program of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA SIP).

The certificate referral program to NOAA SIP applies to all seafood products for export to the EU and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA). The FDA will continue to produce its EU Export Certificate List, which identifies all U.S. seafood exporters in regulatory good standing with the FDA.
