Aldi UK launches new sushi, smoked salmon items

Aldi UK added new products from sushi provider Ichiban, along with a unique smoked salmon offering.

While Ichiban already provides around 40,000 Yumie Sushi Snack packs each week to Aldi’s stores, it recently added smoked salmon, and vegan and vegetarian options, according to East Anglian Daily Times.

"Our partnership with Aldi could prove to be transformational for our business and it's encouraging to see the new range is already flying off the shelves,” Karen Mitchell, head of commercial at Ichiban, told the newspaper.

Meanwhile, Aldi also recently rolled out Summer Punch Smoked Salmon.

“Generously marinated in a loving blend of gin and mint, this tantalizingly good salmon delight is available in stores from 8 August…” Aldi said in a press release.

The smoked salmon retails for BP 2.99 (USD 3.63, EUR 3.27) for 100 grams.

Sustainably farmed in the North Atlantic, “this culminating salmon is hand cured in a mix of salt and demerara sugar for a well-balanced and rounded flavor,” Aldi said. “The salmon is then left to slowly smoke for 8 to 10 hours over smoldering oak wood chippings, to create that classic smoky taste, before marinating in a refreshing cocktail of gin and a sprinkle of mint for up to 24 hours.”
