Aquamar rolls out new ready-to-eat seafood line
Seafood supplier Aquamar launched a new product it has dubbed Seafood Tenders this week, claiming that the product is the only fully cooked, refrigerated, ready-to-eat product of its kind.
The Rancho Cucamonga, California, U.S.A.-based company said in a press release that the “versatile” seafood tenders contain no bones and are an easy protein add-on for any dish.
They are available in four varieties: smoked salmon, cod, crab, and smoked haddock.
The line, Aquamar CEO Daryl Gormley said, allows retailers the opportunity to provide an easy solution to meeting consumer interest in eating more seafood, while also providing a product that doesn’t require much preparation. Easy-to-prepare seafood options are worth an estimated USD 8 billion (EUR 7.3 billion) per year, he said.
"The launch of Aquamar Seafood Tenders is our latest value-added seafood offering where both retailers and consumers will benefit,” Gormley said. ”At Aquamar, we believe everyone should have access to healthy, high-quality protein, and our focus is on premium, ready-to-eat seafood solutions that are both affordable and convenient to prepare.”
Aquamar has been shifting its focus from surimi to hone in on more innovative processed seafood products in recent years. Its Day’s Catch Fish Fillet Smoked Haddock was a finalist in the 2023 Seafood Excellence Awards.
As Aquamar expands beyond surimi into a producer of premium seafood, the company is aligning with heightened consumer interest in sustainability. All of its products are 100 percent wild-caught in an environmentally sustainable way, the company stated.
“The company sources the highest-quality ingredients possible from fisheries that are as committed to quality and sustainability as they are,” Aquamar said.
