ASMI re-launches retail Web site

The Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute last week relaunched its Cook it Frozen Web site.

The site now offers consumers the option to search Alaska seafood recipes by species and by cooking technique, including poaching, steaming, sautéing/pan-searing, roasting, broiling and grilling.

The site also features how-to videos to accompany the recipes.

The launch of the site coincides with new research supporting the value of promoting frozen seafood at retail. In a study conducted by TRD Frameworks, 59 percent of consumers said they prefer frozen wild seafood over never-frozen farmed fish and 82 percent of consumers said preparation tips and recipes for cooking fish while still frozen would increase their likelihood of buying the fish and cooking it at home.

ASMI is also introducing a Cook it Frozen techniques CD-ROM for the Alaska Seafood Brand Toolkit, which provides retailers information about frozen Alaska seafood to pass on to consumers. The institute is also planning to release more support for retailers including Cook it Frozen POS materials, in-store staff training and resources to create custom retail advertisements.
