Avramar wins top honors at Superior Taste Awards

The International Taste Institute in Brussels handed two of its Superior Taste Awards to Mediterranean fish producer Avramar.

The International Taste Institute in Brussels handed two of its Superior Taste Awards to Mediterranean fish producer Avramar at the competition’s latest spring evaluations, with the products passing through sensory evaluations by more than 200 professional chefs and sommeliers.

Avramar Sea Bass received the highest three-star score for its taste, while its Pagrus Major and Stone Bass (known as “corvina” in Iberia, “maigre” in France, and “bocca d'oro” in Italy) also got excellent feedback on flavor, receiving two stars.

“Our mission is to make Better Fish for Better Lives, and we are delighted to have been awarded for doing just that. We are very proud that our outstanding Mediterranean fish receives this level of recognition for its exceptional taste,” Avramar CEO Thor Talseth said.

With vertically-integrated operations in Spain and Greece, Avramar was formed in 2019 and 2020 through the mergers of the aquaculture companies Andromeda, Nireus, Selonda, and Perseus.

The Superior Taste Awards were introduced in 2005. Since then, thousands of products from more than 100 countries have been assessed by its judges.
