Hawaii's Tropic Fish to Reopen as Wholesaler

The wholesale division of Tropic Fish & Vegetable and CMU & Associates, parent company of Hilo Fish Co., are forming a seafood distribution and export center under the name Tropic Fish Hawaii, effective April 1.

The Tropic retail store at Ward Farmer's Market in Honolulu will close while the new company is formed. The company is closing the store to focus on wholesale sales, which bring in higher revenues and more volume.

About half of the company's retail employees will work for the wholesale division. Some of the other employees retire.

The new company will provide fresh and frozen seafood to Hawaii and the mainland United States.
