Loch Fyne finds US, Swiss buyers for premium smoked salmon

Scottish seafood company Loch Fyne has secured contracts to supply smoked salmon products to two fine food retailers in the United States and Switzerland. The products are part of the “Mey Selections” brand, which was inspired by HRH Prince Charles.

Loch Fyne’s Mey Fillet, Kiln Roasted and Traditional Oak Smoked salmon is already available in 10 Central Market grocery stores throughout Texas, while Loch Fyne Gravadlax will be sold alongside Mey Selections salmon in 13 Globus stores in Switzerland from this month.

The company expects the products to be rolled out in further countries in due course.

HRH The Prince Charles, known as the Duke of Rothesay in Scotland, launched Mey Selections in 2005 to foster closer connections between farmers, fine food producers and customers, thus helping to maintain a more balanced way of life in the Highlands of Scotland.

The range also includes biscuits, shortbread and oatcakes, cheese, honey, gin, cakes and beef.

Cameron Brown, managing director of Loch Fyne said that the brand had helped demonstrate the high quality of Scottish produce.

“Buyers in international markets want to know that they’re getting the best smoked salmon, and what better mark of quality than a royal association,” he said.
