Ocean Beauty Seafoods’ Echo Falls brand has rolled out new premium smoked salmon products the company hopes will give it an edge in the Lenten selling season.
The new Echo Falls products include Applewood Smoked Wild Alaska Sockeye Salmon Candy, Oak Whiskey Cask Smoked Scottish Atlantic Salmon, and Beechwood Smoked Norwegian Atlantic Salmon.
As one of the first new seafood product launches of the year, Ocean Beauty Seafoods hopes to get ahead of the Lenten selling season and build a buzz before Seafood Expo North America in Boston, Massachusetts, taking place March 17 to 19, according to Ron Christianson, vice president of domestic sales and marketing for Ocean Beauty.
“We’re constantly on the lookout for new, innovative flavors and methods of preparation that give our customers unique, delicious flavors from top seafood regions,” Christianson said in a press release.
Echo Falls’ new Applewood Smoked Sockeye Salmon Candy, is made from certified sustainable salmon from Bristol Bay, Alaska. The salmon is cut into strips from whole fillets, cured in brown sugar and salt, and slowly smoked with Applewood.
The new Echo Falls Beechwood Smoked Norwegian Atlantic Salmon is dry-cured using only salt and then slowly smoked with native beechwood. It is packaged in a fiber sleeve that illustrates the beauty of the waters of Norway.
The Whisky Cask Smoked Scottish Atlantic Salmon is dry-cured and smoked in Scotland over spent whiskey casks from The Macallan distillery.
Ocean Beauty also updated its Echo Falls brand packaging with what it is calling “a cleaner and bolder design.” The packages highlight traceability by revealing the fish origin, species, flavor, and smoke type, according to the supplier.
“We have given these three products and the entire Echo Falls line a new, eye-catching look that will attract the customers attention and stimulate trial,” Christianson said.
