United States Cold Storage Announces $29 Million Expansion

United States Cold Storage has completed expansion plans for its Tulare-North, Calif., distribution center. A groundbreaking is scheduled for later this month and operations are slated to start in  August.

The expansion will add 2.7 million cubic feet of dry storage space, including nearly 11,000 storage rack positions and 4.5 million cubic feet of multi-temperature refrigerated space featuring 17,000 pallet positions.

The $29 million expansion may add 40 warehouse jobs and at least two customer service positions, according to USCS officials.

Combined with USCS’s Tulare-South facility, the 7.2 -million-cubic-foot expansion of the Tulare-North distribution center will bring the combined capacity of the facilities to 21 million cubic feet.

In May 2007, USCS announced five construction projects to be completed early this year, which included expansion to its Warsaw, N.C., and Bethlehem, Pa., facilities and three new facilities in Fresno, Calif., Lake City, Fla., and Hazelton, Pa. The new sites and expansions will increase USCS’s temperature-controlled warehouse and handling space to more than 150 million cubic feet in 30 facilities.
