Nordic Aqua Partners’ Ningbo, China-based recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) facility recently reached another salmon production milestone, the company said.
In an operational update for Q3 2026, the company said its RAS achieved harvest volumes of 1,838 metric tons (MT) in Q3 2026, with an average harvest weight of 4.4 kilograms head-on gutted (HOG) salmon. The harvest also had a superior rate of 95 percent.
All told, the company said its harvests in the first nine months of 2026 achieved 3,971 MT of HOG salmon, all with an average harvest weight of 4.4 kilograms and a superior rate of 95 percent.
Production reached 2,233 MT of biomass, bringing total biomass in its facility to 5,662 MT – which it said means it is now at full capacity in Stage 1 and Stage 2 of the facility. For the full year, production reached 6,687 MT. The company said that means it has achieved three consecutive quarters of production volumes in excess of 2,000 MT – a new milestone for the company.
“Overall biological performance remains strong with good fish health, no significant maturation, and high survival rates,” the company said.
For the full year, the company is expecting a harvest of 5,700 MT to 6,000 MT of HOG salmon.
Nordic Aqua Managing Director Andreas Thorud told SeafoodSource during this year's Seafood Expo Asia that the company has reached an inflection point and is still awaiting an investment decision before beginning Stage 3 of its project.
"We're at the right time, in the right market, with the right product to some extent. We feel comfortable with that,” he said. “It’s very exciting."
