Innovasea establishes office in Chile

Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A.-based Innovasea has announced it has opened an office in Chile in order to provide on-the-ground service and sales support to fish-farming companies in the region.

Innovasea has developed a number of technologies for the aquaculture sector, including open-ocean tech. The company is also a part of the recently announced Ocean Aware project, a project of Canada’s Ocean Supercluster.

Given the company’s focus on aquaculture, opening offices in Chile – which is second only to Norway in global aquaculture production – made strong business sense, Innovasea CEO David Kelly said.

“Chile is a major aquaculture producer and having a physical presence there will make it easier for Innovasea to offer up our industry-leading aquaculture solutions to the many fish farms in the country,” Kelly said.

The new location will be located in Puerto Varas and will be headed by Innovasea Chile Managing Director Juan Pablo Barrales, who has more than 20 years of experience in the aquaculture industry and holds an aquaculture engineering degree from the Universidad Andres Bello.

“Innovasea’s sophisticated solutions will greatly improve how fish farms operate in Chile,” Barrales said. “Not only will that boost productivity and profitability, but it will also help the industry lessen its environmental impacts and make it more sustainable.”
