AquaMaof hires new sales director for North America

Lior Gal has joined Rosh Haayin, Israel-based AquaMaof Aquaculture Technologies as its new director of sales for North America, according to a 1 July announcement.

Gal joins the company, which specializes in recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) technology and complete RAS-based fish-farming solutions, with 10 years of experience in global sales and marketing. Over the course of his career, Gal has worked to develop new markets and project in the U.S. and in other parts of the world, AquaMaof said in a press release.

In his new role, Gal will be responsible for pre- and post-sale support for customers and projects in North America, the company said. This includes work surrounding AquaMaof’s contract with 8F Asset Management Pte. Ltd., commissioned earlier in 2020. The project involves AquaMaof outfitting 8F’s planned 20,000-metric-ton (MT) Atlantic salmon production facility on the U.S. East Coast with its RAS technology.

“This project, which is in its design stage, is one of nine projects that AquaMaof has under development around the world, with an expected combined capacity of 61K MT of Atlantic salmon and other premium species,” the company said.

Most recently, Gal served as the international trade manager at Galilee Export for five years, focusing on local and global sourcing of agricultural products for trading worldwide. He has a bachelor's degree in economics from Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

“I am excited to join AquaMaof in this exciting time of tremendous interest in the company’s technology, and I am looking forward to sharing my experiences and tapping into my in-depth knowledge to drive AquaMaof’s growth and ensure continuous and optimal client support,” Gal said.

Gal is expected to make further inroads into a strategic market for AquaMaof, AquaMaof Vice President of Marketing and Sales Shai Silbermann said.

“Lior brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our executive leadership team, and we are looking forward to him driving our marketing and sales efforts to new heights,” Silbermann said.“North America is a strategic market for us, where interest in our solution has risen significantly. The interest is derived from the growing local demand for seafood, as well as the U.S. administration’s policy to encourage the local aquaculture industry.”
