Bristol Seafood hires former Pescanova USA exec as new VP of procurement

Portland, Maine, U.S.A.-based Bristol Seafood has hired Rick Espindola as its new vice president of procurement.

Espindola formerly worked as managing director of Superior Seafood Solutions in Miami, Florida from 2018 to October 2020, according to his LinkedIn page. Previously, he was vice president of sales and purchasing at Pescanova USA from 2016 to 2017, and director of purchasing for National Fish and Seafood from 2014 to 2016.

"Bristol is a socially responsible company focused on producing premium, sustainable seafood, and it starts at the source,” Espindola said in a company press release. “I look forward to contributing towards Bristol’s mission to make seafood America's favorite protein.”

Bristol President and CEO Peter Handy said Espindola was hired “to support and build upon its growing portfolio of premium seafood offerings.”

"Rick brings a wealth of seafood knowledge, a proven track record of building vendor relationships, and his values align with Bristol,” Handy said. “I am pleased to have him join our leadership team and look forward to working with him as we deliver our ‘Uncompromising Maine Standards’ to our customers.”

Bristol specializes in dry scallops, wild-caught haddock and cod, and ready-to-cook seafood for the retail market, selling products under its My Fish Dish brand. Bristol was named to the SeafoodSource Top 25 Seafood Sustainability and Conservation list, the SeafoodSource Top 25 Seafood Product Innovations list, and in 2017, became the first seafood company in the United States to earn a Fair Trade certification.
