Fatifish Co., Ltd., a pangasius company from Vietnam, plans to start up its new processing plant in Mekong Delta in November 2019, the company's sales executive, Huynh Duy, told SeafoodSource during the Vietfish 2019 expo, which took place from 29 to 31 August in Ho Chi Minh City.
The company, commonly known as Fatifishco, has completed 80 percent of the construction work at the plant.
The plant will have designed capacity to process 400 metric tons (MT) per day and is located next to a separate plant already in operation in Cao Lanh in Dong Thap Province in the Mekong Delta that produces 250 MT of processed pangasius per day.
Fatifishco also has a cold storage system of 5,000 MT in the area.
Material for the plants will be supplied by the company’s three farming areas located in Cao Lanh, Thanh Binh, and Thap Muoi districts. Earlier this year, it raised its farming areas to total 250 hectares, from its previous 200 hectares, Duy said.
Fatifishco’s pangasius in the farms is fed by its feed factory, also located in Dong Thap, with capacity of 100 MT per day.
At present, Asia and South America each account for about 30 percent of the company’s total export value. The value gained from exports to countries in the Middle East accounts for 20 percent, with the remainder coming from Europe, Mexico, and others, according to Duy.
