Gorton’s promotes purchasing exec after Ken Rowe retires

Gorton’s has promoted Greg Jeffers to director of its McDonald’s business unit and seafood procurement, the Gloucester, Massachusetts, U.S.A.-based supplier confirmed in an email to SeafoodSource.

Jeffers is replacing Ken Rowe, who retired earlier this summer. Rowe served as Gorton’s director of sales for more than 31 years, and handled the McDonald’s business unit and seafood procurement.

Jeffers started his career at Gorton’s as a research food scientist more than 20 years ago. Over the years, he was promoted to region business manager for special markets, then to the position of director of seafood procurement, and then to director of purchasing before assuming his new role.

Gorton’s announced another major leadership change in July, when company president and CEO Judson Reis said he will retire at the end of this year. Effective 1 January, 2020, Kurt Hogan, currently vice president of sales at Gorton’s, will take over as president and CEO.

"Kurt's knowledge of the drivers of our business, expertise in sales management and customer relationships are especially valuable as we pursue the next phase of growth,” Reis said in a press release. “At a time when our industry is experiencing dramatic change to satisfy the evolving needs of today's consumers, Kurt is the right person to lead the business forward.”
