Clackamas, Oregon U.S.A.-based Pacific Seafood has acquired Port Hardy, British Columbia, Canada-based Keltic Seafoods.

Keltic Seafoods CEO Mickey Flanagan confirmed the sale, which closed 19 October, in a 24 October statement. In it, he said the company's leadership team will remain intact, and that it has no plans to change operations.

“At Keltic Seafoods, our incredible team has built a successful company that, with the right partner, could realize further growth and opportunities for our team. After much vetting, it was clear that our long-time vendor, Pacific Seafood, is that partner. They are committed to Keltic remaining Keltic and proudly share our same values of giving back to the community and sustainable products,” he said.

Keltic Seafoods was established in 2000 when its employees purchased Maple Leaf Foods as it was closing, according to the Vancouver Island Free Daily. It remains employee-owned and currently specializes in render offal and fish byproducts, containerizing more than 450 tons of seafood per day on average. It also offers cold storage and blast-freezing services.

“Keltic Seafoods has a reputation for excellence that aligns with the values of Pacific Seafood Group," Pacific Seafood Canada Operations General Manager Dave Dawson said. "We are proud to welcome Keltic Seafoods to the Pacific Seafood family and look forward to supporting them in doing what they do best, custom processing for their customers around the globe."
