Salmon caviar, fish balls recalled in Canada

A seafood supplier in Canada is recalling salmon caviar due to the potential for botulinum, while another company is recalling fish balls due to an undeclared allergen.

Kananaskistrade is recalling Grained Salmon Caviar from the marketplace because it may permit the growth of Clostridium botulinum, according to a Canadian Food Inspection Agency statement.

The caviar was distributed in Ontario and possibly nationwide. The recall was triggered by CFIA test results.

“The CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products. If other high-risk products are recalled, the CFIA will notify the public through updated food recall warnings,” the agency said.

However, there have been no illnesses reported from consuming the product.

Meanwhile, TLW Trading Ltd. is recalling its QQ Fish brand Mushroom Fish Ball due to undeclared egg.

The recalled product, which has an expiration date of 25 November, 2020, was distributed to retailers in Alberta, British Columbia, and Quebec.
