Smoked salmon recalled in Canada due to possible listeria

Orca Specialty Foods Ltd. is recalling One Ocean brand Sliced Smoked Wild Sockeye Salmon nationwide in Canada due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

The smoked salmon from the Surrey, British Columbia, Canada-based company was distributed to retailers in Alberta and possibly nationwide, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency said in a press release.

“This recall was triggered by Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) test results. The CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products,” the agency said.

However, no illnesses associated with consuming the smoked salmon have been reported.

Earlier this week, Clover Leaf Seafoods recalled certain tinned sardines because they may permit the growth of Clostridium botulinum. Those products may also have been distributed nationwide in Canada.
