Blue Apron is rolling out a line of ready-to-cook meals that will soon include seafood.
The meals, which come with pre-portioned, pre-chopped ingredients and a recyclable aluminum tray, meet “growing customer demand for convenient, quick, and delicious meal options,” the New York City, U.S.A.-based home meal-kit company said in a press release.
“Simply combine, bake, and serve to enjoy a chef-designed, delicious meal with minimal preparation,” it said.
Blue Apron’s Ready-to-Cook line of meals will initially feature chicken and vegetarian options, but the company plans to include shrimp in upcoming recipes, Blue Apron Senior Director of PR Muriel Lussier told SeafoodSource. After shrimp, the company is “looking to expand to other options, like cod and salmon,” Lussier said.
“Our customers’ desire for easier meal options on days when time is limited has led us to introduce Ready-to-Cook recipes,” Lussier said.
Blue Apron also offers a Heat and Eat line – prepared, single-serving meals designed to be warmed in the microwave and ready in five minutes or less – and Fast and Easy line, a series of recipes featuring sheet pan and one-pot dinners designed to be ready in 30 minutes or less.
In addition, Blue Apron recently debuted seasonal meal kits, starting with its Summer Lobster Box. The company’s first-ever Summer Lobster Box is “an ode to summer, offering customers a unique and fun way to celebrate with friends and family, whether on vacation or as a weekend activity,” it said in a press release. The kit includes Lobster Rolls with Lemon and Chives, Creamy Potato Salad with Capers and Pickled Peppers, Corn on the Cob with Garlic and Herb Butter, and Green Salad with Feta, Tomatoes, and Radishes. The meal kit containing ingredients to make all four recipes. It serves four and costs USD 129.98 (EUR 128.01).
“We believe these meals meet an important need for our key customer segments, including families – a category we see as one of the biggest opportunities for Blue Apron,” Blue Apron Chief Product Officer Josh Friedman said.
