Lerøy Seafood Group (LSG) had a positive 2020 in terms of volume, with harvests of wild-caught whitefish and farm-produced salmon both increasing over 2019.
LSG harvested 48,300 metric tons (MT) of gutted weight farmed salmon and trout in the last quarter of 2020, an increase of 5,500 MT, contributing to an increased total for the full-year of 170,800 MT.
According to the Norwegian fish farming and fishing company’s latest trading update, the volume produced at the Lerøy Aurora sites in the fourth-quarter of 2020 rose by 1,400 MT year-on-year to 14,800 MT. At the same time, Lerøy Midt’s harvest increased by 1,100 MT to 15,600 MT, and Lerøy Sjøtroll produced 17,900 MT, an increase of up 2,900 MT.
For 2020 as a whole, Lerøy Aurora harvested 35,000 MT, up from 32,800 MT in 2019; Lerøy Midt harvested 67,900 MT, up from 64,800 MT; and Lerøy Sjøtroll harvested 68,000 MT, up from 60,600 MT.
Some 40 percent of Lerøy Sjøtroll’s total harvest volume in the last quarter was trout. For the full-year, this share was 41 percent.
Meanwhile, in LSG’s Wild Catch segment, Havfisk's total catch volume in the last quarter was 12,600 MT, representing a decrease of 300 MT compared with Q4 2019. This total included 7,000 MT of cod, which was 200 MT less than a year previously.
However, for the full-year 2020, the total landings amounted to 68,400 MT, an increase of 5,900 MT. Havfisk's cod catch in 2020 amounted to 23,600 MT, up 1,100 MT on 2019.
LSG’s full fourth-quarter 2020 results will be published on 19 February.
