US shrimp imports stay level in June 2022

India, Ecuador, and Indonesia held on to their top-three positions in their shrimp-export totals to the United States in June 2022.

India led the group, exporting 31,547 metric tons (MT) of shrimp to the U.S. in June, up from 26,070 MT in June 2021.

Although Ecuador was a top exporter, sending 19,614 MT in the June, its total dropped from 22,548 MT in June 2021.

Indonesia exported 10,486 MT in June, down from its June 2021 total of 13,576 MT.

Vietnam's exports stayed nearly level at 7,158 MT in the month versus 7,441 MT in June 2021.

Thailand's shrimp-export total to the U.S. was 3,152 MT in June 2022 versus 2,477 MT in June 2021.

Argentina's total rose to 1,414 MT in June 2022 versus 1,290 MT in June 2021.

China saw a decrease in June in comparison to May 2022 from 603 MT to 489 MT.

Guyana saw a decrease in shrimp exports from 366 MT to 105 MT.

Overall, the U.S. imported 76,848 MT of shrimp June 2022, practically level with the 76,784 MT it imported in June 2021.
