Inland Seafood expands in US Southeast

Inland Seafood has completed an expansion in the U.S. Southeast, increasing its footprint in the region to six distribution centers.

Inland recently completed construction on new facilities in Orlando, Florida, and in Nashville, Tennessee, according to a company press release. It also announced further investment in its other distribution centers in New Orleans, Louisiana; Charlotte, North Carolina; and at its base in Atlanta, Georgia.

Its sixth distribution facility, in Birmingham, Alabama, received a USD 4 million (EUR 3.4 million) investment from the company in 2017.

Inland now services more than 7,000 restaurants, grocers, and foodservice companies with more than 4,000 different products, the company said.

“Even if you are on the right track, you will get run over if you don’t keep moving,” Inland Seafood President Chris Rosenberger said. “It is not good enough to be great and stand still, true success only comes with reinvesting, reinventing, and reflecting. “We have always felt that growth, done right, is imperative to leading a market.”

Additionally, Inland launched a new subsidiary called American Butcher in 2018, producing meats and charcuterie out of the company’s Birmingham, Alabama facility. Inland also operates Inland Market, its value-added seafood company; Inland Lobster, its lobster division in South Portland, Maine; and Woodsmoke Provisions, its smoked seafood company.

The employee-owned company added a number of new jobs as a result of the expansion, Rosenberger said.

“Inland is truly ‘Local in Every Market We Serve’ and those markets are increasing every day,” Rosenberger said.
