Value-added frozen seafood brand Scott & Jon’s is launching its first tuna offering, debuting Homestyle Tuna Noodle Casserole in several retailers.
The Auburn, Maine, U.S.A.-based supplier said the dish puts a fresh spin on a comfort food classic with “al dente egg noodles, crisp-tender peas, and chunk light tuna” in a creamy sauce topped with seasoned breadcrumbs. The company said each meal boasts 21 grams of protein and 3 grams of fiber.
The launch comes as consumers increasingly seek familiarity and nostalgia in classic comfort foods, the company said in a release, adding that the National Restaurant Association (NRA) named comfort foods the second top overall trend in its 2026 What's Hot Culinary Forecast.
"Comfort and value are the twin pillars shaping America's menus right now," NRA Chief Economist Chad Moutray said in the forecast. "Consumers are seeking meals that deliver joy and familiarity without breaking the bank."
Tuna noodle casserole is one of those meals that immediately feels familiar, Scott & Jon’s Co-Founder Jon Demers said.
“It’s the kind of comfort food many of us grew up eating. We saw an opportunity to take everything people love about the classic and make it fit the way they want to eat today,” Demers said. “Most importantly, it had to taste great.”
In a blind test conducted among 103 consumers, Scott & Jon’s Homestyle Tuna Noodle Casserole was preferred two-to-one over a leading brand, the firm said.
“Seeing consumers prefer our recipe two-to-one over the leading brand gave us tremendous confidence that we had created something special,” Demers said.
The launch also marks a new chapter for Scott & Jon’s, as the company adds tuna to a seafood lineup that has historically focused on shrimp, salmon, and whitefish.
