Claude Lalonde, the owner of Ketchum Manufacturing, a maker of seafood merchandizing products including gill and tail tags and mussel bag tags for shellfish, has sold his 100 percent ownership of the company to employees Kevin Dalrymple and Jason Baker.
Founded in 1913, Ketchum Manufacturing has been supplying the seafood industry for more than 30 years. The company has 44 employees, all based in its plant in Brockville, Ontario. Dalrymple previously headed the company’s agricultural division and Baker led its seafood and grocery division. The pair has a combined 30 years of experience with the company.
Ketchum’s tags are used for brand and eco-label identification, as well as for including consumer information on seafood products. The company offers a full line of signage and price tags and works with a variety of customers globally, from large grocery chains to independent seafood shops and fishmongers.
In a press release, Dalrymple and Baker said all 44 company employees would keep their jobs and that the entire management of the company will remain in place. They thanked Lalonde for his work completing the transaction.
“[We] would like to express appreciation to Claude Lalonde and the Lalonde family for their interest in helping to retain the company at its current location and keeping the 104-year-old company intact,” they said. “The deal, which took approximately 18 months to complete, ensures that Ketchum Manufacturing can continue into its second century of business operations with a bright future.”
