Global warehousing and logistics provider Lineage has officially opened a new expansion of its Vejle, Denmark-based facility and broken ground on a new expansion of its fully-automated cold storage warehouse in Bergen op Zoom, the Netherlands.
Lineage said its expansion in Denmark adds 6,000 square meters to its existing facility, and adds “significant additional capacity” to its cold storage. With the expansion, Lineage’s facility in Vejle has reached a capacity of 93,500 Europallet positions.
“Today’s expansion marks another exciting step forward in our mission to build the most dynamic and reliable cold chain network in the Nordics,” Lineage Nordic Region Regional Vice President Carsten Wolf said. “Our expanded Vejle facility enhances our ability to respond to growing customer demand while supporting regional food security and sustainability.”
Lineage said the facility features new technology to optimize its energy efficiency and ensure safe storage of temperature sensitive goods.
“The Nordics continue to play an important role in Lineage’s European growth story,” Lineage Europe President Sean Vanderelzen said. “This state-of-the-art expansion in Vejle is a powerful example of how we have invested to deliver greater capacity, connectivity, and resilience across the cold chain, all while keeping our sustainability goals front and center.”
Soon after it opened the new expansion, the company announced it broke ground on a new expansion of its facility located in Bergen op Zoom, the Netherlands.
The expansion of the cold-storage facility will increase its capacity by 40 percent, bringing it to a total of 250,000 pallet positions, the company said. Lineage said the expansion is slated to be completed in 2026, and once done will be one of Lineage’s largest facilities globally.
“At Bergen op Zoom, we are delivering the automation, efficiency, and connectivity that Lamb Weston and our broader European customer base rely on to serve their markets with confidence,” Vanderelzen said.
Vanderelzen said the expansion will also help it meet customer demand and is thanks to a continued collaboration with its anchor customer at the warehouse, Lamb Weston – one of the world’s largest producers and processors of frozen potato products.
Lineage first entered the European market in 2017, and company officials told SeafoodSource in 2023 that it is working to become a “one-stop solution” for logistics in Europe.
