How Digital Aquatech Can Be the Ultimate Win-Win for the Seafood Supply Chain” is available free for SeafoodSource Premium members and for USD 350 (EUR 315) to non-members through the Complete Digital Ticket: Seafood Expo North America 2024.

Featuring Aqua-Spark Director of Partnerships Flavio Corsin, xpertSea CEO Katie Sokalsky, Wholechain Co-Founder Mark Kaplan, New Seasons Market Program & Category Manager-Seafood Daisy Berg, and eFishery SVP Global Shrimp Kristin Veriga, the panel was held on Tuesday, 12 March, with the following description:

The relationship between seafood buyers and producers is often one of shifting power. Buyers’ requirements are often reflected in additional costs for producers, but when demand outstrips supply, buyers have to tread carefully before adding requirements that they cannot, or do not want to, pay for. Demand for traceable and sustainable seafood has most often increased costs at the expense of either suppliers or buyers. This panel will discuss how aquatech can be a win-win for both suppliers and buyers, in terms of cost, transparency, traceability, and sustainability. More specifically, we will talk about how digital aquatech can benefit farmers by reducing their cost of production and providing them access to quality inputs like feed and finance. We will further explore how these very same aquatech solutions can simultaneously help buyers reach their sustainability and traceability targets, including assessing environmental footprint, promoting decarbonization, and improving transparency.

The 2024 Seafood Expo North America, which took place 10 to 12 March in Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A., featured a comprehensive conference program of live panel events focusing on topics chosen to be of vital interest to the seafood industry.

The 31 individual presentations from SENA featured exclusive information and insight from seafood industry experts, on a range of topics including diversity in the seafood industry, how artificial intelligence could be used in the industry, what impact FDA FSMA 204 updates will have, traceability, and more.
