16: Clearwater Seafoods
of Bedford, Nova Scotia, Canada, is one of the country’s two publicly traded companies to appear on the list. With nearly four decades in the business, Clearwater supplies scallops, lobsters, clams, shrimp and snow crab, and markets its Clearwater brand to the retail channel. This vertically integrated supplier boasts both at-sea harvesting and on-shore processing capabilities, with facilities in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. (Clearwater Seafood’s 2013 sales were $366.7 million; its annual results actually improved in 2014, but the weakness of the Canadian dollar shows a decrease. It was ranked No. 17 last year.)
