Grimsby Fish Market’s modernization is complete, gaining approval from Iceland’s new fisheries minister who underlined the importance of the country’s unique relationship with the town.
It was music to the ears of a proud seafood industry that turned out in droves for yesterday’s official opening, with many conscious of the need to attract more supplies to the town.
The long-awaited GBP 1.21 million overhaul has seen the 16-year-old facility brought to the forefront of heightened food safety standards, a major step to ensuring it continues to play a key role in getting fish from Icelandic trawlers to the UK’s dinner plates.
