Young’s Seafood’s expanded facility in Grimsby will be headed by Billy Storer, the company announced in a release.
The manufacturing facility, located at Humberstone Road, is planned to be the company’s largest business site in the U.K. after the company acquired the neighboring processor and cold storage operation. According to Young’s, the two facilities are being merged into a single complex.
The expansion will enlarge one of Young’s largest facilities, which was opened in 1964.
“It will feature the company’s natural salmon center of excellence, with lines to cater for the new contract wins with Marks and Spencer, a new coated facility for the high street giant which is set to open in October, as well as the existing fish-finger factory and further coated operations,” the company wrote.
Storer joins Young’s from 2 Sisters Food Group, where he was the site director for the company’s Ready to Eat and Ready to Cook factories in Derby, U.K. He has 30 years of experience in food and drink manufacturing, including companies such as Premier Foods, ABF, United Biscuits, Kraft Foods, and Molson Coors.
“I’m pleased to announce that Billy has joined Young’s Seafood Ltd as head of operations at our Humberstone Road facility,” Young's CEO Bill Showalter said. “Billy has a history of successfully implementing great customer service, process improvement and change management programs wherever he has worked. His extensive experience will be extremely valuable as we further develop this outstanding site and execute our long-term growth strategy.”
The new hire and expansion follow a period of aggressive expansion by the U.K. company. That expansion has been paying off, the company announced in August that it saw a 29 percent increase in their EBITDA year-on-year.
Young’s previously announced an aggressive expansion plan for the U.S. Market in June, and scored a contract with Pret a Manger in July.
