Seafoodia seeks suppliers at SENA

Marseilles, France-based Seafoodexport recently changed its name to Seafoodia, as it expands to new global markets.

The new Seafoodia, which realized a 15 percent sales spike last year to EUR 115 million (USD 121.8 million), is also seeking new suppliers at Seafood Expo North America in Boston, Massachusetts, 19 to 21 March, and at Seafood Expo Global in Brussels, Belgium, 25 to 27 April.

The supplier sells a variety of seafood products, including fish oil, fresh seafood, frozen seafood, dry and salted fish and canned seafood to France, Europe, Africa, the United States of America, Canada, Asia and several other countries and continents. In total, it supplies 60 countries.

Seafoodia is seeking new sustainable seafood products, from both wild-caught fisheries and aquaculture producers, particularly those with eco-certifications such as Marine Stewardship Council and Friend of the Sea.

“We are looking for new partners to enter new markets and develop innovative products,” David Sussman, president of Seafoodia, told SeafoodSource.

Seafoodia’s new name was chosen to demonstrate the excellence of the sea (seafood) every day (dia), Sussman said. “We wanted to change our name in line with our new vision and momentum for 2026. We are entering new markets, selling new products and creating new brands, always with a focus on the respect of the human being and the environment.”

Seafoodia first developed its business-to-business to brand “SEAFOODIA”, followed by business-to-consumer brands for specific markets. The b-to-c brands include Cuisine & Ocean in France and Europe, Makayabu and l’Africaine for the African market, Jamway for the Caribbean and South America markets, along with various oyster brands.

“The focus of our business is on the distribution and sales of seafood products – notably dry and salted fish but also lobster and canned fish. This business has been progressing over the past years,” Sussman said.

Products containing Omega 3 and DHA are increasingly in demand globally, according to Sussman. “We have entered the fish oil market through our subsidiary in Morocco and Africa, and via partnerships with production units in this area. This has been a major area of growth in recent years.”

Seafoodia also partners with Terravia for the distribution of AlgaPrime™ DHA, a native whole algae source of omega-3s and a sustainable specialty feed ingredient. It is primarily used in the European pet and production animal segment.
