4.) Poke nachos, Zeke’s Beans and Bowls, Virginia Beach, Virginia
Though its origins are in Hawaii, poke has become so ubiquitous that it can even be found in Virginia. Zeke’s Beans and Bowls serves up a classic bowl of poke along with the more popular poke nachos. For USD 10 (EUR 9.17), patrons receive a pile of tortilla chips smothered in chili chipotle sauce, seasoned tuna, cilantro, tomato, pineapple, green onions, sweet onions, jalapeños and sriracha aioli.
“Both of our owners surf a lot. They traveled to Hawaii and found that poke was great energy food for surfing,” employee Victoria Petriccione said. “It’s become really popular here. People usually get the nachos to share or for a main meal.”
