Wisefish Poké opened in January 2016 with the aim of bringing poké to the masses living in the heart of the foodie world – New York City. The restaurant offers several classic versions of poké as well as options for customizing your bowl, but one offering that sets it apart is its zucchini noodles.

“They’re very New York – for people who are avoiding carbs or just into something different, fun and fresh,” manager John Muenz said.

If you go, order the house favorite, the West Swell, which combines ahi tuna, sweet onion, herbs, masago (capelin roe), wasbi avocado cream and a house sauce that Muenz descrbes as sweet and garlicky. Muenz recommends getting a mix of the crispy, crunchy zucchini noodles and brown rice.

“We’re aware that poké is a little on the exotic side for some people on the East Coast,” Muenz said. “I think what we’re offering hits the sweet spot where diners feel like they’re getting something exotic but the flavors and ideas are things they’re familiar with.”

The West Swell goes for USD 10.95 (EUR 10.04) for a regular-sized bowl, which has 3.5 ounces of tuna.
