An on-demand video of the 2025 Seafood Expo North America (SENA) panel “The Future of Aquaculture is Now: Seafood Sustainability and Stewardship Legends Share their Visions and Predictions” is available free for SeafoodSource Premium members and for USD 350 (EUR 297) to non-members through the Complete Digital Ticket: Seafood Expo North America 2025.

Featuring Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) CEO Chris Ninnes and Sustainable Fisheries Partnership (SFP) CEO Jim Cannon and facilitated by SFP Biodiversity and Nature Director Kathryn Novak, the event was advertised with the following description:

Join longtime seafood leaders Chris Ninnes and Jim Cannon for an interactive dialogue about the future of aquaculture, how the industry can drive more responsible production, and the role of certification programs in advancing these priorities.

Global seafood buyers and retailers have wide-ranging commitments, including delivering on ESG requirements, due diligence legislation, and nature and climate change goals. Rapidly increasing interest in aquaculture by international organizations and development agencies also mandate the need for an effective framework for responsible aquaculture.

Focusing on farmed shrimp in India, Cannon and Ninnes will share their vision of a new participatory, multisectoral roadmap for aquaculture that will:

  • Improve productivity and produce large volumes of responsibly farmed shrimp;
  • Protect and restore natural resource systems;
  • Promote equity and inclusion, particularly for small-scale farmers and women; and
  • Address the effects and impacts of climate change.

The more than 25 individual presentations from this year's SENA featured exclusive information and insight from seafood industry experts on a range of topics, including diversity in the seafood industry and how the sector can best navigate current economic, energy, and trade policies.
