Chinese seafood firm claiming origins in Canada seeking investors

Investors are being promised “wealth and riches” if they back a chain of seafood distribution stores seeking to expand in China.

Bolaixian, which also uses an English name ‘iSeafood’ on its logo, is a subsidiary of Blue Ocean (Canada) Foods, which appears to be a Chinese-run operation registered in British Columbia, Canada. Bolaixian’s headquarters is based in Jinan, in the major seafood production and processing region of Shandong.

A company staffer manning a hotline for would-be franchisees or investors gave the company’s pitch to SeafoodSource. Describing the company as a subsidiary of a Canadian seafood firm, the salesman said the firm was seeking investors and franchisees to help it expand across China.

“We are the first to sell refrigerated and wild imports from the ice cold and unpolluted waters of Canada and other countries,” the salesman said. “We sell lobster, king crab, silver cod, Arctic shrimp and American red shrimp. We sell north Pole shellfish and salmon and geoduck.”

Bolaixian casts itself as a “vertically integrated enterprise” with interests in fishing, instant freezing, processing, packaging, and shipping. The firm is licensed to handle import customs clearing and distribution. The firm also distributes imported fruits including cranberries and blueberries.
