Salmolux recalls smoked salmon products

Salmolux, a Federal Way, Wash.-based seafood company, is issuing a voluntary recall of 11 different smoked salmon products amid fears of contamination from monocytogenes.

According to the recall advisory from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the organism can cause “serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.” So far, according to the advisory, no illnesses have been reported.

The products, described as various lox and smoked salmon products, were distributed under the brands Jensen’s Old Fashion Smokehouse, Raley’s, and Sea Passion. Many products do not carry a UPC code, but some products carry the codes 633243246845, 046567500294, 016468442948, 0168468445437, 016468443951 and 016468443280.

The products have a total weight of about 4,930 pounds, and were distributed in the following states: Arizona, Arkansas, California, Idaho, Michigan, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oregon and Washington.

The company urges customers who bought the affected product to return it to the store for a full refund.
