Miami, Florida, U.S.A.-based smoked salmon producer St. James Smokehouse's Miami facility has achieved AA+ grade certification from the BRCGS Global Standard for Food Safety, the organization’s highest level of food safety accreditation.
BRCGS issues its AA+ rating after unannounced audits produce no more than 5 minor non-conformities to the food safety standard. Though it issues AA to D grade ratings, an AA+ rating can only be achieved by a surprise audit.
"Earning the AA+ certification is a testament to our team's dedication to maintaining the highest standards in food safety and quality," St. James Smokehouse owner Alexandra Hill said. "Our customers can have complete confidence in the integrity and excellence of our products."
The Miami facility is a key feature in the St. James Smokehouse production line, where its SAINT Pure Salmon is produced. The facility is also a WBENC-Certified Women's Business Enterprise, and holds a Kosher certification as well as an ASC Chain of Custody Certification.
The company debuted a number of new products at 2025’s Seafood Expo North America (SENA), which ran from 15 to 18 March in Boston, including a cold smoked steelhead trout sourced from Mar Andino, a fish farm in the Andes in South America. It also showcased a smaller-portioned smoked salmon made from trimmings from the company’s royal fillet product, which made sustainable use of the salmon for the ready-to-eat market.
