The Stop & Shop Supermarket Company has issued a recall of Ocean Beauty Seafoods smoked salmon products, following a recall by the supplier due to fears of listeria contamination.
Ocean Beauty announced last month that it would be recalling several products voluntarily after finding traces of the dangerous bacteria in some of its products. In the elderly or young children, listeria can cause a variety of symptoms from high fever to severe headache to nausea. It is also very dangerous to pregnant women.
Stop & Shop’s recall includes Lascco Cold Smoked Atlantic Salmon 8-ounce packages with the UPC number of 7284001708.
The recall is a precaution, as no cases of listeria illness have been reported. Customers who may have bought a product matching the above description may return it to any Stop & Shop store with a receipt and get a full refund.
