Co-founder takes helm at Bubba Gump

Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Restaurant and Market on Monday announced that it appointed Tim Busald president and CEO of the casual seafood chain.

Busald is one of the company’s founders and has been head of operations since its inception in 1996.

The announcement comes a month-and-a-half after Scott Barnett, founding president and CEO of Bubba Gump, resigned.

Bubba Gump also unveiled that it named Gail Taggart executive VP and chief strategic officer. Previously, she served as VP of operations and development.

Both Busald and Taggart handled daily operations after Barnett’s resignation.

“Our team has built a company culture which consistently delivers an exceptional dining experience for our guests,” said Busald. “We have great employees, highly committed operators and a superior executive staff. I am excited to lead this team as we continue to build the Bubba Gump brand worldwide.”

“This brand enjoys worldwide recognition and is well established as a leader in every market we have entered,” added Taggart. “We see tremendous opportunity for domestic and international growth in the coming months.”

The San Clemente, Calif.-based company operates 22 Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. restaurants in the United States and 11 franchise or joint-venture locations overseas, including Mexico, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines. Other Bubba Gump brands include Mai Tai Bar, The Newport Beach Rusty Pelican and Capi’s Italian Kitchen.
