Dunkin’ Donuts adds tuna to menu

Tuna is among the three new sandwich items Dunkin’ Donuts is adding to its menu.

The coffee-and-donut chain announced on Monday that it’s offering a Tuna Sandwich featuring tuna salad served with or without cheese on an oven-toasted bagel. It’s available throughout metro New York for a suggested retail price of USD 2.99.

Dunkin’ Donuts also introduced two new chicken sandwiches throughout upstate New York and New England: the Original Chicken Sandwich features seasoned chicken with a tangy ranch sauce and melted Monterey Jack cheese, while the Bacon Jack Chicken Sandwich includes seasoned chicken with a tangy ranch sauce, Monterey Jack cheese and bacon. The sandwiches come on either a flour tortilla wrap for a suggested retail price of USD 1.49 to 1.79 or a croissant for a suggested retail price of USD 2.49 to 2.99.

Dunkin’ Donuts current lineup of oven-toasted sandwiches include Chicken Parmesan, Ham & Swiss, Turkey Cheddar & Bacon and Grilled Cheese.

The Canton, Mass.-based company, which operates 8,800 restaurants in 31 countries and has annual sales of USD 5.5 billion, is trying to expand its lunch business.

“Customers want new choices to keep them going throughout their afternoon and evening without compromising on convenience, quality or taste,” said Stan Frankenthaler, Dunkin’ Donuts executive chef. “By expanding our variety of afternoon offerings to complement our current menu items, Dunkin’ Donuts customers have more ways to keep themselves running any time of day.”
