Online retailer Amazon, which recently ventured into fresh grocery and seafood delivery, has now introduced its own Amazon Grocery private label brand in the U.S.

Encompassing more than 1,000 “high quality” food items, the selection includes fresh meat and seafood, milk, produce, and pantry staples. Most products are priced under USD 5.00 (EUR 4.26), “offering exceptional value to customers,” Amazon said. The products were previously under the Amazon Fresh and Happy Belly private label lines.

"During a time when consumers are particularly price-conscious, Amazon Grocery delivers more than 1,000 quality grocery items across all categories that don't compromise on quality or taste – from fresh food items to crave-worthy snacks and pantry essentials – all at low, competitive prices that help customers stretch their grocery budgets further,” Vice President of Amazon Worldwide Grocery Stores and Whole Foods Market CEO Jason Buechel said.

Among the seafood items in the private label line are: BAP-certified, large raw farmed shrimp, currently on sale for USD 5.24 (EUR 4.46) for a 12-ounce package; wild caught sockeye salmon skin-on fillet portions, on sale for USD 9.66 (EUR 8.23) per 12-ounce package; and wild caught Pacific cod portions, priced at USD 7.80 (EUR 6.64) for a 12-ounce package.

Amazon's private-label brands, which include Amazon Saver and 365 by Whole Foods Market, continue to gain sales momentum, the retailer said. Customers purchased 15 percent more private brand products in 2024 compared to the previous year across Amazon.com, Whole Foods Market, and Amazon Fresh.

“This growth reflects customers' recognition of the exceptional value found in the tens of thousands of high-quality, competitively priced private label items from Amazon spanning essential categories including groceries, home goods, fashion, beauty, personal care, and baby products,” the company said.

Amazon Grocery products are available at Amazon.com and Amazon Fresh online and in stores across the country.

In August, Amazon announced that customers in more than 1,000 U.S. cities can now shop for perishable grocery products – including fresh seafood – as part of its home delivery service. After a successful test in cities such as Phoenix, Arizona, and Orlando, Florida, Amazon said that customers can now order fresh groceries across the country with their Same-Day Delivery orders.

The company plans to expand the offering to more than 2,300 cities across the U.S. by the end of the year.
