Seafood chain opens outlet in Beijing’s “millionaires row”

A new Shen Hai 800 Mi restaurant, featuring premium imported seafood, has opened Beijing’s most posh neighborhood.

The high-end seafood restaurant chain, run by Shanghai-based Shen Hai Ba Bai Mi F&B Management Co., features Australian abalone and lobsters and Canadian shrimp. Its newest location opened at the upmarket “MOMA Village” real estate development in Shunyi, a district which is also located near the city’s airport. Shunyi is home to numerous villa complexes and gated communities that house some of the country’s wealthiest citizens.

Two new Shen Hai 800 Mi outlets also opened last month in the smaller cities of Nantong and Yangzhou – both in the relatively affluent eastern, coastal province of Jiangsu. The chain now has 62 locations nationwide in China.

Interested investors must be ready to pony up some cash. Franchising a Shen Hai 800 Mi restaurant costs a minimum of CNY 2 million (USD 292,000, EUR 261,000), not including rents and recurring royalty payments, according to the manager of franchising at the firm, surnamed Cao.
