U.S. grocery firm The Winn-Dixie Company has converted all remaining Harvey’s stores to now operate under Winn-Dixie banner stores.
The conversions of eight Harvey’s stores across the U.S. states of Florida and Georgia were completed after Southeastern Grocers announced last fall it would rebrand as The Winn-Dixie Company and sell off or convert some of its Winn-Dixie and Harvey’s stores in the process.
The new brand, still headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, U.S.A., has a renewed focus on its home state of Florida, as well as the southern portion of neighboring Georgia, and now operates 130 grocery stores.
According to Winn-Dixie Company Chair and CEO Anthony Hucker, completing the Harvey’s conversion process marks a defining milestone for the firm and an important step forward for the communities it serves.
The newly converted stores feature a refreshed look and full product lineup, including signature own-brand products, fresh produce, quality meats and prepared foods, and expanded seafood offerings. The burgeoning seafood selections are “part of broader enhancements designed to better meet each community's unique needs and preferences,” The Winn-Dixie Company Senior Director for Communications and Community Meredith Hurley said.
“Several locations now offer expanded fresh seafood selections, including larger seafood-on-ice displays and the convenience of our ‘Seafood Made Easy’ program, which allows customers to pair their seafood choice with vegetables and seasonings for an easy cook-at-home meal,” Hurley said.
Additionally, as part of expanded Hispanic offerings across departments, newly converted stores also feature whole fish such as snapper and corvina. The amount of seafood carried in each store varies as assortments are tailored to local preferences and demand, per Hurley.
“While customers will find the quality, value, and service they expect from Winn-Dixie at all locations, individual departments – including seafood – may vary by store to ensure offerings remain relevant to the communities they serve,” she said.
The company’s focus on growing seafood sales extends beyond the converted Harvey’s locations, Hurley emphasized.
“Fresh seafood is an important part of the shopping experience at all Winn-Dixie stores, including new, remodeled, and converted locations. Customers across our footprint can find a variety of fresh and frozen seafood options,” Hurley said.
